About Me

Director of Planning

Nicola joined WHSSC as the Director of Planning in September 2022.

Nicola joined NHS Wales in 1992 as a Graduate Management Trainee and spent 18 years in operational roles across the NHS in South East Wales.  In 2010 Nicola joined WHSSC as a Specialised Services Planner and was latterly the Assistant Director of Planning before moving to Swansea Bay UHB in 2016 to develop her career in planning and commissioning.  She has most recently undertaken an 18-month development post as the Director of Planning and Performance in Health Education Improvement Wales, before returning to SBUHB as the Assistant Director of Strategy (Commissioning).

Nicola is delighted to be back in WHSSC and to bring her broad experience of planning and commissioning to her current role.  With a strong interest in the development of planning and commissioning professional practice within NHS Wales, Nicola has been a member of Welsh Government’s Planning Programme for Learning Group since its inception.

Nicola has a Law degree from Exeter University and a Masters (MSc) in Healthcare Management from the University of Glamorgan.  She has also recently completed the Oxford University View of Strategy Executive Programme.
